Frozen salmon filet…. One of my secret weapons for quick and delicious cooking! Keep reading to see how we turn a humble frozen filet into mouthwatering sweet chili salmon!

This is a meal I love so much and probably eat 2-3 times per month. It is so flexible and can be changed depending on your mood for the day. Feeling Korean? Top with bulgogi sauce. Feeling spicy? Add some extra Sriracha to your sweet chili sauce. There are so many possibilities!
Let’s get cooking!
Sweet Chili Salmon
Ingredients
- 2 each Salmon filets thawed
- 1 pinch salt and pepper
- 2 tbl Jarred sweet chili sauce I used Panda Express's sauce
- White rice or other quick cooking side dish
- Frozen veggies
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Grease a small baking dish and lay thawed salmon in, skin side down.
- Lightly season salmon with salt and pepper.
- Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
- When 10 minutes is up, remove salmon and brush sweet chili sauce on the salmon.
- Return salmon to oven and bake for 5 minutes
- Check if salmon is done by seeing if the thickest part will flake easily with a fork.
- Let stand for a minute or so, and plate with your rice and veggies!
Notes
- If you are cooking regular white rice as a side dish, I would start the rice cooking before you start the salmon.
- If you are cooking a microwave rice side dish, then microwave the rice when you put the salmon back in the oven with the sweet chili sauce.
- I often top this dish with a little more sweet chili sauce, or sesame seeds, or chopped fresh chives, or other herbs.
- This dish is easy to scale up or down. Just use about 1 TBL of sweet chili sauce for each salmon filet you cook.
- If you do not have sweet chili sauce or do not like it, this recipe will also work great with some bottled teriyaki sauce, bulgogi sauce, or a honey/garlic sauce.
- If you want leftovers, I will often turn a filet into a fish taco, with some shredded cabbage, rice, and some extra sweet chili sauce mixed with mayo. It is a tasty lunch for the next day!
